The following are suggestions for a general education on pro-life issues.  There are excellent resources listed for students who are doing research articles, term papers, speeches, debates, book reports, drama productions and so on from a pro-life perspective. Many of the groups listed have wonderful brochures for young people. Some have free material. * Recommended.

There are numerous web sites that address the life issues at all levels of maturity.  As a teacher, parent or youth leader, please look over the different sites and their material that have been recommended in this unit before giving out the web addresses to your students to make sure you feel it is right for your class or student.

When young people enter into the high school years and then into college, they need to be well grounded in pro-life principles if they are to successfully stand against the pro-abortion worldview that they will encounter. Five essential areas have been addressed in this section which will enable them to not only defend their pro-life worldview but to do it in such a way that others are possibly won over from a pro-abortion worldview to a pro-life worldview.

These areas are:

1. Keeping the young person pure.
    
2. Helping the youth pastor/leader/teacher and parent prepare pro-life students.
    
3. Preparing pro-life students to become salt and light in their school – public and private - and community through personal interaction, debates and writing assignments.
    
4. Getting the young person involved in a pro-life ministry.
    
5. Help is available for the pregnant young person and for the post-abortive person  .

FIRST:  Keeping the Young Person Pure.

Psalm 119:10 NIV "How can a young man keep his way pure? By living according to your word."

The profound wisdom found in the verse above is just as true today as it was when it was first given. Knowing and choosing to live according to Biblical truths will allow young people to avoid the pitfalls of unhealthy sexual decisions that are so prevalent today. The programs recommended below are not meant to supplant the Bible training given by the homeschooling parent, teacher, youth leader or youth pastor. Rather, they are given as additional resources to help reinforce the Judeo/Christian ethic so needed by young people everywhere.

THIRD:  Preparing Pro-life Young People to Become Salt and Light in Their School and Community Through Personal Interaction, Debates and Writing Assignments – Both in Christian and Public School.

Here are just some of the subjects a student might do research on, write essays on or speak about:

• Developing unborn child
   
• What abortion does to that child, to the woman and man, the family and to society – collateral damage.
   
• Bioethical Issues

FOURTH:  Getting the Young Person Involved in a Pro-Life Ministry

As was said in the introduction, when young people enter into the high school years, and then into college, unless they are well grounded in pro-life principles they are much more likely to be influenced towards a pro-abortion worldview. At the least they will not be in a good position to challenge the pro-abortion worldview and at the worst they will leave school with a pro-abortion worldview. 

One excellent way to develop committed pro-life young people is to get them involved.  There are several different groups that teach, equip, challenge and activate young people.  If a young person has made mistakes there are groups to help with forgiveness as well as helping them through any current problems.
